Rotary Air Compressors
Rotary screw compressors operate on the principle of positive displacement. Filtered air enters the inlet of the airend where two rotors un-mesh. The air is trapped between the rotors and the airend housing. As the rotors re-mesh, the space is reduced on the opposite side of the airend and thus, the air is compressed and moved to the discharge port. Common designs are one-stage, two-stage and oil-free rotary air compressors. Hope Air Systems distributes the complete line of Kaeser Compressor rotary screw compressors, including its direct drive, v-belt drive and packaged systems.

Reciprocating Air Compressors
Reciprocating compressors are a positive displacement machine, which means they increase the pressure of the air by reducing its volume. This means they are taking in successive volumes of air, which is confined within a closed space and elevating this air to a higher pressure. The reciprocating air compressor accomplishes this by a piston within a cylinder as the compressing and displacing element. Read the current issue of Curtis Air Times.

Centrifugal Air Compressors
Unlike Rotary and Reciprocating air compressors, which are positive displacement systems, a Centrifugal compressor is known as a “dynamic” system. A dynamic compressor raises air pressure by imparting velocity energy and converting it to pressure energy. An impeller, rotating at high speed, imparts primarily radial flow to the air, which then passes through a diffuser to convert the residual velocity energy to pressure energy. Packaged Air Compressor Systems
Hope Air Systems has extensive experience designing, fabricating, installing and maintaining skid-mounted packaged air systems to meet the critical manufacturing requirements of its customers throughout the world. For more than 40 years it’s engineering and technical staff have developed custom designs to meet and exceed customer’s requirements.

In recent years, the various manufacturers have been stepping up their design and production of “packaged” air systems. It might be more correctly defined as “pre-packaged” systems. These come from the factory with many of the complimentary components for a complete system already mounted on a skid, ready for installation.

Factory-assembled and pre-tested, these systems often meet the exact requirements for many of our customers. When that’s not possible, Hope Air Systems is capable of building a “package” that meets its customer’s unique needs.

Oil-Free Compressors
Hope Air Systems distributes a wide range of oil-free air compressors. These include centrifugal, rotary, and specialty piston reciprocating compressors, such as those used in dentists offices. Major brands of oil-free systems include Kaeser, Kobelco, FS-Elliott and others. From PET bottle blowing systems requiring 400 HP or more down to small systems for a dental office, there is an appropriate system available.

The Kobelco KNW Series of oil-free rotary screw compressors are available in two-stage, air or water-cooled designs with horsepower ranging from 40HP to 500HP. The Kaeser line of oil-less reciprocating air compressors are suited for dental offices and other applications requiring oil-free air. FS-Elliott produces a line of oil-free engineered air centrifugal compressors suited for food and beverage processing, automotive manufacturing, pharmaceutical, electronic, mining and many other critical fields requiring oil-free air.
